2023 in review
How I fared on my 2023 goalsYesterday I asked for your goals for this year, and mentioned that I had done the same last year. So let me reflect on the goals I set for last year, and how well I did.
Here are the goals I set:
- I will launch a new online course about software development
- I will be launching a new 5-day/week email list about Go
- I will reach 3,000 subscribers on my new YouTube channel, Boldly Go
And I got 2 of the 3.
-
The first one never happened. I don’t regret it. I decided after some initial market research, that it wasn’t really the best thing to spend my time on. I did get a small amount of interest in a course, but the truth is, there are just a ton of online courses out there for Go already. I’m not sure if I can improve upon them. The only unique thing I could really offer is my own personality and flavor. That’s not nothing, but I’m not sure it’s the best I can do. So instead, I started offering my services as a personal, private Go mentor. And this is going well, with three active mentees so far.

I have launched my 5-day/week email list about Go, and it’s going well. I’m just past half way through the Go spec, breaking it down into easy-to-understand bites.
-
And for my third goal, I hit it on Christmas eve. By the end of the year, I had 3,105 subscribers to my channel, and a lot of great feedback and regular watchers.
So I’d say it was a good year.
How was your 2023?
