Agility PrayerTo change priorities, or not...
“How do we convince our stakeholders to stop changing priorities?”
Who can’t identify with this frustration?
Yet, aren’t we supposed to be “agile”? You know, “Responding to change over following a plan” and all that?
So does this mean we should accept every priority change that comes up, perpetually interrupting and pushing current work back further?
No easy answers here. Not today anyway. But some balance must be achieved.
Enter my newly minted Agility Prayer:
Grant me the agility to accept the legitimate priority changes, courage to push back on others, and the wisdom to know the difference.
Ask 10 people, get 15 answers
Ask 10 people what "Agile" or "DevOps" means, and you'll get 15 answers. The terms have essentially become meaningless.
My preferred "Agile framework" for a new team
Work closely with the users of the software, and establish tight feedback loops. No framework necessary.
