I recently saw an advert for a new service:

We just released an AI based tool to generate User Stories from requirement descriptions.

Oh dear.

How many things are wrong with this?

The whole point of user stories is to talk about them. And the reason to talk is to get the team thinking, and building a shared understanding.

If we have a machine do it (no matter how smart that machine may be), we’ve eliminated the entire purpose!
