Reader response: How does QA fit into DevOps?

“We solve the problem of the ‘wall of confusion’ between dev and QA by enabling dev teams to do most testing on their own.”

Last week I wrote about the idea of QA serving a supporting role to developers, to overcome the common tendency of an adversarial relationship between developers and QA.

Fellow reader Axel Schüssler replied to that post with his own story:

As an agile tester, I come to DevOps from the other direction. We solve the problem of the “wall of confusion” between dev and QA by enabling dev teams to do most testing on their own. And DevOps gives teams a whole range of new possibilities to address quality risks. Exciting times.

I love this!

One thing I like so much about the agile movement is that regardless of our various starting points, as an industry we tend to converge on many of the same solutions. Axel’s example helps to underscore this!
